High-Risk Orders

High-Risk Orders automatically blocks visitors associated with orders that Shopify Fraud Analysis has identified as High Risk.

When Shopify flags an order as High Risk, MIDA records the visitor’s IP address and automatically blocks future visits from the same IP, helping prevent repeat fraud without requiring manual action.

The protection workflow is simple:

  1. A customer places an order.
  2. Shopify analyzes the order using Shopify Fraud Analysis.
  3. If the order is marked as High Risk, MIDA records the visitor’s IP address.
  4. Future visits from the same IP address are automatically blocked.

This protection only applies after Shopify has identified an order as High Risk.

To enable this feature:

  1. Go to Checkout Rules.
  2. Open High-Risk Orders.
  3. Turn on the Enable High-Risk Orders toggle.
  4. Click Save.

Once enabled, MIDA will automatically protect your store whenever Shopify detects a new High-Risk Order.

Although both features help reduce fraud, they work at different stages of the customer journey.

For the best protection, we recommend enabling both features.

  • Block Fake Orders helps stop suspicious checkouts before an order is placed.
  • High-Risk Orders prevents repeat fraud by automatically blocking visitors associated with Shopify High-Risk Orders.

Together, they provide multiple layers of protection throughout the checkout process.
